Stargazing
Saturday, July 29th, 2017 from 9.30pm
View Saturn and maybe Mars with astronomer Joe Mayer. No registration needed. Meet near the entrance bridge. The program will be cancelled in the case of cloudy skies, rain or snow. Please check our Facebook page for last minute updates.

Volunteer Workday
Saturday August 5, 9am - noon
Help us clear invasive species from the west side of the lake. Meet at the Nature Center at 8.45am or take a stroll around the lake until you spot our hard-working crew. Please wear closed-toe shoes, long sleeves and bring a water bottle.

Nature by the Book - The Invention of Nature by Andrea Wulf                                                             
Wednesday, August 16, 6:30pm in Palos Heights Library’s Meeting Room
Lake Katherine and the Palos Heights Library join together to bring a nature-based book panel discussion. The book is available at the library now.

Shredding and e-recycling event
Saturday, August 19, 8am - 12pm

At the Library Parking Lot (Located at 12501 S 71st Avenue)
The Palos Heights Library and Lake Katherine are co-sponsoring a shredding event. The Palos Heights Police will also be on site for the prescription drug drop-off (no liquids, needles, or salves). For paper shredding, each car may bring 2-3 boxes of paper.

Monarch Butterfly Festival
Sunday, September 17, 11am-4.30pm
Enjoy the unique and magical experience of walking through our butterfly tent! We will also have face-painting, live animals, an arts & crafts fair, children's crafts, storytime, scarecrow making, food & drnk vendors and an education tent.

Fall Fishing Classic
Saturday, October 14, 7am - noon
Fish the entire shore during this one day catch and release fundraiser. A donation of $100 per competitor includes lunch at noon and there are prizes for the biggest catch of the day.

Fall Hayride & Campfire
Friday, October 20, 7pm-9.30pm
Lake Katherine's annual Fall Hayride & Campfire is back. The hayride will be followed by pumpkin painting, treats and songs around the campfire. Preregistration is required at the nature center.

Scrapbooking Weekend
Friday, November 10-Sunday November 12, $50 for all three days.
Get creative, share tips and make a special scrapbook during this fun craft weekend. Preregistration required at the nature center.

Wine & Nature Evening
Thursday, November 16, 7pm to 10pm, $25 per person.
We are excited to bring back our Wine and Nature series. Check back in the near future for details.

Holiday Hayride
Friday, December 8, 6.30pm-9pm
Join us for one of two time slots as we ride on a decorated hay wagon around the streets of Palos Heights singing festive carols. Upon return to the nature center we will enjoy food, fun and traditions. Preregistration required at the Nature Center front desk.
