Stargazing

Monarch Butterfly Festival
Sunday, September 15, 11am-4:30pm, Cost: $7
Enjoy the unique and magical experience of walking through our butterfly tent!  We will also have face-painting, live animals, an arts & crafts fair, children's crafts, story time, scarecrow making, food & drink vendors and an education tent.  Tickets are $7 per person and free entry for children two and under.

Fall Fishing Classic
Saturday, October 12th 7:00am-12:00pm
Fish the entire shore at Lake Katherine during this one day catch and release fundraiser. A donation of $100 per competitor includes lunch at noon and there are prizes for the biggest catches of the day.

October Hayride and Campfire
Friday, October 25, 7:00pm-9:30pm, Cost $10 per person
October is “pumpkin time”! This hayride/campfire will feature pumpkin painting, pumpkin treats, and songs around the campfire. Sign up at the Nature Center

Scrapbook Weekend
Catch up on your scrapbook projects during this time away weekend. Cost: $50 for all three days. Individually days are also available. Preregistration required at the Nature Center front desk. Fee includes: Snacks and beverages all weekend. 2.5 ft. X 4 ft. work space and access to electricity if needed. Dinner on Saturday night and lunch on Sunday will be provided. Bring your own snack lunch for Saturday.

Cost: All three days - $50, Friday only - $14, Saturday only - $32, Sunday only - $14

Holiday Hayride
Friday, December 13th, 6.30pm - 8:00pm, 7.30pm - 9:00pm, $10 per person.
Registration early is recommend, MIN/MAX 15/25
Our annual holiday hayrides will feature classic winter traditions. We'll ride on our hay wagon through the streets of Palos Heights singing Christmas carols, and then return to the Nature Center to enjoy food, crafts and other activities.  Registration and payment to be made in person or by mail no later than Monday, December 3rd.

Lake Katherine photographers take pictures of participants in our programs and classes, during special events, and throughout the grounds. Please be aware that these photos may be used in Lake Katherine articles, brochure, pamphlets, flyers, website, or other social media. You must give us written notice if you or your family members do not want to be photographed or published. We also invite you to submit your own photos from programs, visits, and events. Your photo may be featured in an upcoming publication.
