Public Work Days

MLK Day of Service

Monday, January 21st, 9:30am - 12:00pm

We will meet in the Nature Center at 9:30am and then head outside to remove invasive species from the grounds. Dress for the weather and be prepared to get dirty. We'll supply gloves and tools, but you're welcome to bring your own gloves if you'd like. Please bring a refillable water bottle. All volunteers must bring a completed Day Waiver form to participate. If you are interested in bringing a group, please contact Shamim at 708-361-1873 to see if we will be able to accomodate your group for this event.

Opportunities for Current High School Students

Winterfest

Saturday, February 2nd

We are looking for student volunteers who can assist with our annual winter festival. If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up online: https://goo.gl/forms/0wO9jgaGsgFGQUQ32. The last day to sign up is Monday, January 28th. Shifts are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so registration will close early if all shifts have been filled. There will be no walk-in positions available on the day of the event.

We have three shifts to choose from:

8:30am - 12:00pm Shift

  • Set-up tables, chairs, displays, etc.
  • Prep activity stations

11:30am - 4:30pm Shifts

  • Front gate greeters
  • Face painters
  • Outdoor activity stations
  • And more

3:30pm - 6:00pm Shift

  • Assist with end-of-festival clean-up checklists
  • Take down tables, chairs, displays, etc.
  • Sweeping and mopping
